Erin and Brady had the kind of wedding day that upon walking in, I instantly knew was going to be a good one. They surrounded themselves with the most welcoming and kind people. Within minutes it was evident to me they would be celebrated in a big way that day. They chose people that were honored to be in their corner. People that would do anything for them, rain OR shine.

Rain, rain, here to stay

I think it’s a safe bet to say most people hope for “good” weather on their wedding day. I am sure 97% (I can’t commit to 100% because there are the unique few) of my wedding client’s would never say, “I’m actually hoping it rains that day”. Which is completely understandable. However, none of us have even the tiniest bit of control over whether the sun shines all day or the rain comes falling down.

Erin and Brady’s day was one of those where it was going to come and it was going to stay. The thing I remember most though, is that they didn’t let it put a damper (pun intended) on their moods. They were getting married no matter what the skies did. All they cared about was the commitment they were preparing to make.

Take a page from their book. We might as well not let something we have zero control over, control us on a day that is so much more important than some water falling from the sky. Sometimes, ya just gotta let go my friends. I promise you it will be worth it.

Choosing your people

So now we know, ya just can’t control the weather on your wedding day (hopefully you weren’t unaware of this before) but you can choose who’s going to stand by your side when the rain starts falling. It’s time to rip another page out of Erin and Brady’s book, frame it, and hang it on your wall.

Oh man, friends. This wedding happened a couple years ago and I STILL think about how awesome their bridal party was. They showed up in big ways. They showed up ready to lend a hand when needed and have a blast no matter what was asked of them. It is unreal the difference your crew makes- you deserve to be surrounded by humans who love you well and care about nothing more than celebrating you on one of the most important days of your lives. This crew did it all. I would hang with them any day.

Chose people who are going to cheer the heck outta you on! Chose people who will remind you that it is ok not to have control over every little thing. Chose people who will back you up, support your marriage, and shake their booty’s on your dance floor until they can’t shake ’em anymore! Chose the ones that are there for you, rain or shine.
